Training for Multicultural Counseling and Diversity Issues
CE: 2.5
Speaker: Evelyn Burrell, Psy. D
Training for Multicultural Counseling and Diversity Issues: Throughout history Blacks have been defined through the clinical lenses as “less than” when being offered treatment from White clinicians. Research often offers comparative insights between Whites and Blacks, allowing for Blacks to historically be perceived as aggressive, mentally unstable, and resistant to treatment. What is often missing from the research is the traumatic impact clinicians have had on Blacks that may impede their ability to gain from treatment.
