SFTC24: A Focus on Global Mental Health, The Impact of Religious Trauma on a Feminist Revolution, & the Marginalized Pop
CE Credit: 1.00
Speaker(s): Bahareh Sahebi PsyD, HyeRim Ryu, MS, Rosy Kim, MS
"The following program will focus on a focus on global mental health and why this focus is important. Information will be shared about the largest feminist revolution currently taking place around the world. The impact of religious trauma on vulnerable and marginalized populations including communities and families at risk of experiencing religious trauma; LGBTQIA++ communities, those living under highly controlled systems, religious dictatorships and theocratic systems of government, family, and institutional and cultural systems that value a purity culture as part of sexual morality standards will be addressed in this program. Finally, the audience will have a better understanding of communities living in the United States in diaspora, an underrepresented and unnoticed migrant and refugee global population who are currently at need to be heard and understood by family therapists and family scientists, impacted by religious, migration, and war trauma. The presenters will also address the clinical implications for therapeutic services needed for families at this time in our current history.
Contributors of this workshop will attend to the importance of expanding therapists’ knowledge about global mental health. Therapists who attend this session will:
- walk away more informed about the topics related to the current zeitgeist and the feminine revolution taking place globally and are vibrating their impacts within the United States;
- understand the impact of religious trauma on the self, family, community and cognitive and affective experiences as they relate to the experiences;
- and have a better understanding of the needs of a clinical population of some marginalized families not often talked about in DEI training forums."
