Providing Quality Care to LGBT Patients
CE credit: 2 Speaker: Alex Karydi
In this two hour webinar, participants will learn ways to provide affirming and inclusive health care for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender, or LGBT, patients. LGBTQ populations must navigate the typical challenges of life while also managing the social stigma associated with their emerging sexual and gender minority identities. As a result, many LGBT individuals are at higher risk for certain behavioral and emotional issues, homelessness, victimization, and suicide. This module discusses the unique health and developmental challenges of LGBT populations, and describes ways to address these issues in the clinical setting. Through sensitive, confidential communication, clinicians can become a vital source of support for this vulnerable population
