Accreditation is a voluntary process. The purpose of accreditation is to ensure quality in higher education. In the field of marriage and family therapy, the Commission on Accreditation for Marriage and Family Therapy Education (COAMFTE) reviews and grants accreditation to programs at a Masters, Doctoral, and Post-Degree levels that meet or exceed COAMFTE Accreditation Standards. A list of currently accredited programs can be accessed in the Search Criteria below. To view the list in alphabetic order, use the {Select All} in the Search Criteria below.  To view by State or Province, select the name of the state or province.

Some programs that had previously been granted COAMFTE accreditation may no longer be accredited for various reasons.  To check if a program has been previously accredited by COAMFTE, please send us your inquiry containing the following:

1. Your name and contact information
2. Name of the institution, program name and degree level (e.g., masters, doctoral)
